Released just a year apart, which of these two phones is better? The bigger iPhone XS Max or the newer but smaller iPhone 11 Pro. Let’s take a look.

The iPhone XS Max was Apple’s biggest ever phone when it was released, and the X series was the first to have the new edge-to-edge OLED screen. What a screen! Gorgeous sharp, bright images and 6.5 inches of viewing space. A masterpiece wrapped up in a glass and aluminum shell. Of course, that gorgeous screen became the standard, so the iPhone 11 Pro has the same screen and the same experience, but being a much smaller phone, it only has a 5.8-inch screen, although it is tougher with a glass and stainless steel shell. The iPhone 11 Pro only weighs 20 g less than the iPhone XS Max, but it's 14 mm shorter and 6 mm narrower, making it a good choice if you prefer a smaller phone.

The iPhone 11 Pro has a newer, faster processor than the iPhone XS Max, the A13 bionic compared to the A 12 bionic. Memory-wise you get the same 4 GB on both phones, but the iPhone 11 Pro has the edge on battery life. It will last around 30 hours with average use, that’s approximately 5 hours more than the iPhone XS Max. You also get a camera upgrade with an additional 12 MP ultra-wide lens. The iPhone XS Max has 2 X 12 MP rear cameras with a wide and telephoto lens. As for the front camera, on the iPhone XS Max you get a 7 MP front camera and HD video recording, on the iPhone 11 Pro you get a 12 MP selfie camera and 4K video recording.

As always the choice of which is best comes down to what you’re looking for in a phone, and what you want it to do. If you’re looking to buy either the iPhone 11 Pro or the iPhone XS Max, you can save some money and do your bit for the environment by buying a refurbished model.
