Which is a better cell phone, the iPhone 12 Pro or the iPhone XR?

With all of the models out there, each one bigger or smaller, faster or slower, with more storage or better cameras, it can be hard to know how to choose. In the end, it will come down to personal preference, so let’s see what the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone XR have to offer.

iPhone XR – the first edge-to-edge screen with great battery life

The iPhone XR is the larger of these two phones, although there isn’t much in it. It measures 150.9 x 75.7 mm and weighs 194 g, the iPhone 12 Pro measures 146.7 x 71.5 mm and weighs 189 g. Interestingly, they both have a 6.1-inch edge-to-edge screen. However, all screens are not made the same. The iPhone XR has an LCD screen, and although it was billed as the best LCD screen in the world, it doesn’t match up to the OLED screen on the iPhone 12 Pro. The iPhone XR does have the edge when it comes to battery life though, it will last you around 33 hours with average usage, that’s around 4 hours more than the iPhone 12 Pro, not bad for a phone that’s almost the same size!

iPhone 12 Pro – an OLED screen, durable ceramic shield, and 2 x optical zoom

The iPhone 12 Pro is about 2 years newer than the iPhone XR, and it shows. Not just in the stunning OLED screen, but also on the inside. Other than battery life, the iPhone 12 Pro has more of everything, including more memory (6 GB compared to 3 GB), and more camera lenses. The iPhone 12 Pro has 3 x 12 MP camera lenses on the rear compared to a single lens on the iPhone XR. This includes an ultra-wide lens to keep more of your shot in focus. As for the front camera, you get 12 MP and 4K video on the iPhone 12 Pro, and 7 MP with HD video on the iPhone XR. The iPhone 12 Pro is also better protected than the iPhone XR as it has a ceramic shield coating to prevent damage.

Which is better?

In this comparison, it’s clear that the newer iPhone 12 Pro has more to offer than the iPhone XR, but if you’re looking for a budget phone, the iPhone XR is a decent choice with a good screen and camera and excellent battery life. You can save money on either phone by buying a refurbished model.
