iPhone 12 vs iPhone 13 mini

At almost identical prices, these two Apple smartphones are usually pitted against each other. Released barely a year apart, they feature similar design elements too, but there are key differences. 

iPhone 12, a 6.1-inch screen

The first difference between these two models is their size. The iPhone 12 measures 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4 mm and weighs 164 grams, while the iPhone 13 mini measures 131.5 x 64.2 x 7.7 mm and weighs only 141 grams. More compact, the latter has a smaller screen: 5.4 inches against 6.1 inches for the iPhone 12.

In terms of storage, the iPhone 12 offers 64GB, 128GB and 256 GB configurations. If you want more space, the iPhone 13 mini additionally offers a 512GB version. If you regularly shoot videos or photos with your smartphone, this larger capacity can definitely come in handy.

The iPhone 12 has the A14 chip, while the iPhone 13 mini has the A15 chip, which is a newer year and therefore more powerful (although the differences are not obvious in everyday use). They are both 5G compatible as well.

iPhone 13 mini, more compact but more powerful

In terms of performance, the iPhone 13 mini is technically superior to the iPhone 12. It also stands out in terms of design, with a more discreet screen notch.

In terms of photography, it also has the edge. The iPhone 13 mini was improved with new photographic styles and cinematic mode for video, where the camera automatically adjusts the depth of field and focus when you shoot for a particularly stunning result.

If you're a fan of photography and video, the iPhone 13 mini is probably the best choice for you. If you prefer larger screens, the iPhone 12 is the most suitable for your needs.
