Released in 2014, the iPhone 6 marked a turning point for Apple. It sketched out the design and the numerous features that all the other Apple models would be equipped with. Five years later, the 2020 iPhone SE takes up the codes of this emblematic smartphone by making some changes. It remains to be seen whether these differences will allow it to tip the balance in its favour or not.
Larger than the previous model (iPhone 5), the iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen, identical to that of the iPhone SE. It is therefore comfortable to hold and weighs only 129 grams.
It is also equipped with an A8 chip that combines efficiency and performance. However, it cannot compete with the capabilities of the newer and more powerful A13 Fusion chip in the iPhone SE (originally designed for the iPhone 11). The iPhone 6 finally has a jack, which is missing on the SE model.
And above all, you should know that the iPhone 6 is no longer updated by Apple.
Although the screen of the iPhone SE model is the same size and definition (1,334 × 750 px) as that of the iPhone 6, the SE is distinguished by a different display, called True Tone. This means that the smartphone is able to automatically adapt the colour temperature of its screen to the surrounding light conditions.
This makes it more pleasant to use when reading or watching content. In terms of design, the iPhone SE differs from the iPhone 6 in that it has a glass back, which looks more stylish and allows wireless charging.
These two smartphones are both very well placed in terms of price. The simpler iPhone 6 is a pleasant smartphone to use. It has a useful jack for music lovers that do not own a bluetooth headset. The iPhone SE, on the other hand, has some advanced features (True Tone, wireless charging, etc.) and a more powerful processor than its rival. This allows it to meet the needs of the latest games and applications and to support the latest Apple updates. This is not the case with the iPhone 6.
